Rev. Dr. Jean Darlene Brown, Associate minister

Jean Darlene Brown is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She and her husband, Deacon William R. Brown, reside in Raleigh, North Carolina. She is the first born to Catherine Pryor and Rudolph Reynolds, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They have three adult children, two sons-in-law, and several grandchildren.

Reverend Brown earned her undergraduate and Master of Arts degrees in Organizational Management and a doctoral degree from Virginia University of Lynchburg of Lynchburg, Virginia. She has a conferred honorary Doctor of Humane Letters Degree from Eastern Carolina Christian College & Seminary. She also earned a certificate in Non-Profit Management from Duke University and she continues to be a life-long learner of the Gospel.  

She worked in the healthcare field for over 24 years in various positions and she previously worked eight years as the Office Manager at Oak City Baptist Church, a non-profit faith-based organization. Currently, she is the Dean of Academics, Faculty & Dean of the Doctor of Ministry Program at Eastern Carolina College & Seminary, located in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. She is a Certified Program Planner, Certified Notary Instructor, and Certified Medical Administrative Assistant.

In addition, Dr. Brown serves on the Ministerial Staff of Oak City Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. William T. Newkirk. Sr., where she was ordained in 2016.  She also serves as a Chaplain at Wake Medical Hospital, in Raleigh, North Carolina.

She is a Ralph Reavis Fellow and the recipient of the Presidential Award of Eastern Carolina Christian College & Seminary. In addition, Reverend Brown serves on the Executive Board of the Wake Missionary Baptist Association, Inc., of Raleigh, North Carolina.

Reverend Brown’s favorite scripture is: Psalm 34:5 – “Keep your eyes on the Lord! You will shine like the sun.”
