Rev. Dr. Mary Smalls, Associate Minister

Mary Elizabeth Smalls was born in Wake County, North Carolina. She was educated in the Wake County Public Schools System and attended Wake Technical Community College and North Carolina State University studying Nursing. Reverend Smalls was employed with WakeMed Hospital for thirty-eight years, until her retirement in August 2005.

Rev. Smalls’ has been a member of Oak City Baptist Church for the past thirty-nine years where she has served with various ministries of the church. After being called by God into the ministry, she preached her initial sermon in 1999 and was licensed to preach the gospel under the Reverend Dr. William T. Newkirk, Sr.  In 2009 Reverend Smalls was ordained as a Baptist minister by the Wake Association of the North Carolina General Baptist State Convention. As an Associate Minister she has assisted in facilitating Bible Study, served as a guest speaker, ministered to the sick, shut-in, and homeless and served as a Prayer Warrior.

She has earned a Bachelor of Theology, a Master of Theology, and a Doctorate of Sacred Studies from Beacon University- Christian Life School of Theology.

Currently she resides in Raleigh, North Carolina with her husband, Deacon Clarence Smalls, Jr.  She has four adult children and several grand-children that she enjoys spending time with.
